In the Summer of 2017, I became incredibly inspired by this amazing human to start getting up to see the sunrise every morning. I’d wake up at 5 o’clock and the moon and stars would still be shining. Some days it was more of a struggle to get up than others, but most mornings I hopped out of bed out of excitement for what new beautiful masterpiece Mother Nature was conjuring up.
It was so serene to be able to walk a beach barefoot with not a soul in sight. Just me and the ocean. I’m of course lucky enough to live in a town on the coast, but even if you can’t see the sun at the moment it rises over the earth, you can still enjoy those moments of peace and quiet from anywhere.
Right now in Massachusetts it’s SO cold and windy in the mornings so it’s a little more difficult to get outside to see the sunrise, but I always make sure to take a few moments to slow down and stand in the first sunlight of the day and just breathe.
Here are some of my favorite sunrises from 2017!
It may seem like a daunting task, and it may sound miserable to get up even earlier than you already have to, but I encourage you to at least give it a try. Take a few minutes out of your morning to greet the sun as it comes up over the horizon, to be present, and to set the tone for the rest of your day.
I promise, you won’t regret it!
